News before radio silence

Yes, news because it’s been soooo long since I’ve told you anything!

These 2 months, my pearwood luggage has been ‘closed’, I’m guessing there are even cobwebs around here! I’ll sum up the reasons why in just 2 words: apartment hunt.

That search for an apartment with F has taken my life over for 2 months! Actually 1 month and a half – the last 2 weeks have been about setting everything up for our move – until we were able to choose AND get one we liked.

So you can imagine my free time was devoted to phone calls, visits, frustrated sighs, etc. Plus, if you add that I haven’t been able to drive for a month already, having lost my driving license and all – ‘lost’ as in ‘left it somewhere I don’t know’, not in ‘taken away by the authorities because I did something terribly wrong’ – plus the hassle it still is to get those papers back, a good 1000 km away from the people they issued it…

Anyway, you get the picture: frustrated because of all the ugly flats, annoying owners and bad timing, dependant again on public buses and a darling boyfriend, getting (over?)loaded with new responsibilities at work, then overwhelmed at the thought of moving out of the flat where I have lived on my own for the very 1st time (5 months of erasmus Flogsta-kitchen-sharing in Uppsala don’t really count here), procrastinating instead of packing boxes…

Today, you find me restless, surrounded (at last!) by those brown boxes, getting out of bed insomniac and trying to tell you I’ll miss you for the few days we’ll have to go without the internet!

Rest assured there’ll be pictures of the new place (cute place 2 minutes away from the beach!) and lots of stories about sharing ‘our’ space! :) I hope it will be easy enough, but we’ve already argued about where the TV and dining table should be… *sigh* that’s what a small living-room/kitchen gets you… Juggling furniture!

So, see you all later!

  1. I am house hunting too – in Madrid. You’ve got a place near the beach, so I’m guessing you’re not in Madrid anymore?

  2. No, not in Madrid anymore… Not in Spain either!
I have been living in the West coast of France for almost 21 months already and so far I’m just loving it.
There’s something amazing in living right by the beach and working some 20 minutes away by car…
Although sometimes I miss the thrill of the multiple choices in leisure activities of the big city, it doesn’t beat the quiet and the short trips to anywhere around here…

Well good luck in your house hunt, I believe it’s not what it used to be price-wise…

  3. Prices are much better than they were, a good time to buy if you can.

You place by the beach sounds fantastic – there is something very lovely about living by the sea and the West Coast of France must be something special, France is such an interesting country.

    What are you doing there?

    • sorry the answer comes sooo late!!
I am working here, in the aerospace industry (manufacturing big aircraft slices), and so far I like it!
although maybe not so much lately, it’s been rather stressful but, hey, just another challenge, as some say… right? :)
      the surroundings help though…

hope your house hunt has been going on ok!

  4. House hunt going well – I found the house I was already living in which I hope to buy soon. At least I won’t have to move.

    • hey that’s nice, congratulations!
I hope you won’t face too many stubborn administrative people in the paperwork and money needed… I was asked to present SO many papers to be able to rent here, and even have my parents -yes the ones who still live in Spain- as responsible if I wasn’t able to pay the rent, it was pretty frustrating!
